Equifax does not make lending decisions, so we don't know why a lender may have denied your application for credit. Each lender and creditor has its own criteria for deciding whether to extend you credit.
If you are denied credit due in part to information in your credit report(s), a lender or creditor is required to send you an "adverse action" letter explaining the reason you were denied and stating which of the three nationwide credit bureaus provided the report(s) used to help make the lending decision. You are entitled to receive a free copy of the credit report(s) within 60 days of the adverse action notice.
